December 16, 1929 –  February 21, 2012  WHITESBORO – Funeral Services for Al Miller, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned but visitors may view at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 8 a.m. until service time on Friday.Al passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital -WNJ in Sherman.
He was born Alfred Clyde Miller on Dec. 16, 1929 in Bulcher, Texas to Delmer F. Miller and Mary Richardson Miller. He served in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of service. Al also served as the Chief of Police, City Alderman, Mayor and City Judge for the City of Whitesboro. He liked golf and watching football (especially the Washington Redskins).
Survivors include his wife, Janice Miller of Whitesboro; 4 sons, Ronnie Miller and wife, Sandy of Taneytown, Maryland, Larry Miller and wife, Shirley of Douglasville, Georgia, Alfred Miller and wife, Lisa of Abilene, and Gary Miller and wife, Kay of Hobbs, New Mexico; 5 step-children, Fred Watson, Jr. of Whitesboro, Sharon Bundage of Long Beach, California, Karen McMillion of Whitesboro, Wendell Bockman of Bonham and Shirley Speck of Alto, New Mexico; a step sister, Dorothy King of Stanley, New Mexico; 6 grandchildren, Dawn, Suzanne, Brian, Aaron, Austin and Dylan; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Miller; and 2 sisters, Nellie Flippo and Catherine King.
Pallbearers are Orlan Bagwell, Ken Bagwell, L.V. Phelps, Jackie Crisp, Mark Pike and W.D. Welch.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Whitecotton and Al’s 4 sons.
